Features

Inhibit the growth of specific bacteria by adding a special chemical substances or antibiotics or let colony be a special appearance, that improves the recovery efficiency. For example, eosin methylene blue medium (EMB) and MacConkey medium allow growth of gram-negative bacilli such as Escherichia coli) but inhibit gram-positive cocci (such as Staphylococcus).
